10 Cheap Family Eats In Telluride, Colorado.

If you are planning a family vacation to Telluride, you are probably thinking ahead and hoping to dine out without blowing the budget completely! There is no doubt that Telluride falls on the more expensive end of the spectrum, so knowing the right places to go for a family meal can save you time, hassle and money. Despite their being a number of fine dining establishments in town, there is also an excellent selection of affordable restaurants, saloons and delis where you can enjoy pizza, burgers and sandwiches. Here’s the scoop on our favorites spots for quick and inexpensive family friendly places to eat during your Telluride stay…

Baked In Telluride – I never really understood the attraction to Baked In Telluride until I had a child of my own. Located next to the Telluride Market grocery store on south Fir Street, Baked In Telluride offers a huge range of fresh baked goods daily including doughnuts, pastries and bread. They also make sandwiches, salads, soups and pizza (by the whole or by the slice). What I love the most about this place is that everyone brings their kids here, so you don’t need to worry about making a mess or being noisy. It’s also super affordable and quick so you can get in and out quickly without spending a small fortune!!

Menu highlights include burgers, pasta, soups, salads and Colorado pork, steak and fish entrees. Smuggler’s boasts many medals and awards from beer competitions and festivals such as the Great American Beer Festival. Aemono Fine Foods This is one of our absolute favorite’s! Based out in Lawson Hill (right next door to the Telluride Brewing Company), this is the perfect spot for a lunch or early dinner. Jump on your bikes and ride the 3 miles from town to this locally owned pizza kitchen that has been serving fresh and fabulous food in Telluride and the surrounding area for over 15 years. By supporting our local farmers and sourcing high quality ingredients, Aemono uses all natural and/or organic local produce and meats in our dishes. Many gluten-free options are available on a daily basis.

OAK A local favorite based at the bottom of the gondola in Telluride town, OAK is the perfect place to end your ski day and swap stories with colorful local characters. Serving up BBQ style food including fried chicken, gumbo and Po’ Boys, the food at OAK may not be the healthiest, but it is fast, tasty and cheap (well, by Telluride standards anyway).

Flora Dora In my opinion, Flora Dora serves the best burgers in Telluride! Established in 1973 by Florie and Charlie Kane, this institution has been serving up some of the best casual food in town for over 40 years. Menu highlights include duck egg rolls, baked brie & apples, jalapeño popper, soups, salads and a variety of entrees including steak, lamb, chicken, paella and fish. There is also an extensive burger menu, with my all time favorite being the Flora Dora Burger.
