Fall is absolutely my favorite time of the year in Telluride. Cool, crisp, blue sky days, pumpkins, the excitement of winter looming in the air. The summer crowds have dissipated, friends are less busy offering more time for catch ups, bike rides and hiking. There is something really special about it.
The fall season has been an interesting one this year. The leaves turned very late this year, and some are still turning now in mid October. Although the leaves turned late, the cold seems to have come early. It has also been a lot cooler than normal this month, and we have had 2 rounds of decent snow already. Of course, everyone in town is hopeful that the cycle continues through the winter, as we are all hanging for decent snowfall after a few dry winter’s!
Coming up in Telluride soon is annual the KOTO Ski Swap. I love this community event, which takes place at the Wilkinson Public Library. The town piles their old and unused ski and winter gear into the underground car park and people flock through to find retro treasures, a new (old) set of skis or some winter boots for their kids. The ski swap takes place on November 8/9/10 this year.
