Property Walkthrough: Aspen House

Surrounded by mature trees, the raised garden may not be visible during the winter months, but its stone wall will still add charm to your stay. Come in through the side door, just as your friends and family do at your own house, and begin your explorations with a tour of the public spaces. This open concept floor plan keeps no secrets, immediately revealing a farmhouse feel and welcoming ambience, starting with the warm and inviting living room space. Walls are painted the dark green of the forest, providing a beautiful backdrop to unique artwork and a wall of white cabinets and shelves that house a state-of-the-art television and a large selection of books to be enjoyed during your stay. A camel-hued sectional lies across from the television, offering up a soft place to read, watch TV, or nap on a snowy Saturday afternoon, while in the corner, a desk placed in front of a large bay window provides views of the neighborhood that will be much enjoyed, even if you are sitting at the desk because you have to work!

Following the path created by warm wood floors, the kitchen is a cheerful space filled with farmhouse appeal. A center island surrounded by a set of four chairs offers the ideal spot to enjoy morning coffee or late-night snacks, and the professional quality appliances are ones that any chef would be happy to have in her own restaurant kitchen. A secondary seating area, this one with barn red walls and a comfortable reading chair placed where the light is best, serves as a passage from the living room to the kitchen and the dining room anchored by a long wood table that seats 8. A modern gas fireplace adds a warmth to the room that is much appreciated during the cold days and nights of winter, and just beyond lies the first of the 5 bedrooms.

Aspen House blends modern convenience with cozy comforts, and this first bedroom offers the perfect example. The queen bed topped with warm linens is the secondary focal point of this space, with the main draw being the views of the trees just outside. A tiled en suite bath with jetted tub will soothe muscles that may not be used to skiing and will help ease the transition from wakefulness to peaceful sleep. A private deck on this level features a hot tub under the open sky, adding warmth and romance to your vacation experiences!

Three of the remaining bedrooms can be found upstairs, offering two queens, a full bed, and colorful walls that add cheer to the décor. Cobalt walls, large white framed windows, and a window seat with colorful pillows in one room, a handmade quilt serving as a headboard in another space, and unique angles, a four-poster bed, and a brass chandelier in the final of the three bedrooms welcome all who sleep within. The art of Aspen House is definitely unique, as shown in the hall that is decorated with a variety of small wood chairs nailed to the walls, and the bathrooms offer up their own whimsical décor, including walls papered with retro magazine ads, a shower with an intricate mosaic tile design, and another deep jetted tub in the en suite bath of the “green room” finishes up the tour of this level.

Heading downstairs, you will find a basement bunk room sure to be the favorite spot in the house! Offering two brightly painted sets of bunk beds, a tomato-hued microfiber sofa faced towards another television, and a fun foosball table that will instantly transport any 80s kid back to their youth, this room is destined to be the chief hangout space for travelers of all ages. The final bath features a walk-in shower, and outside this fun space, guests will find another bubbling hot tub. The wrap-around deck of Aspen House features more sitting and dining spaces, a barbecue grill, and stunning views of the neighborhood and the mountains just beyond.

Property Walkthrough: See Forever 106

The rustic appeal of a log cabin can sometimes veer into the far too rustic side, but that is not the case with See Forever 106. Stealing décor ideas from the mountains that surround, you and 5 of your favorite people are destined to enjoy a vacation that you will wish never had to end. The covered porch leading to the mahogany-stained door has the feel of an enchanted forest path and when the door opens for the first time, the magic continues. The open-concept floor plan spreads out before you, giving your eyes multiple places to land before being drawn to the wall of white framed windows at the back of the space. Vaulted ceilings lined with lodge pole beams are punctuated by the support of metal corbels designed to repeat the beauty of the Colorado sun.  The naturally stained wide plank floors under your feet reflect the charms of the ceiling overhead.

To your right, the spacious and modern kitchen is defined by the pure beauty of the color white; white stone counters, farmhouse cabinets painted a crisp white, and a white marble backsplash that lends the space a touch of modern sleekness. High-end appliances in stainless steel bring the joy back to your cooking adventures and a long farmhouse table surrounded by 8 comfy chairs completes the feel of a family space. To the left of the room, guests will find a charming living space, anchored by soft gray sofas and chairs and brought into the new millennium with the addition of a super-sized state-of-the-art television mounted to the wall opposite.

The oversized French doors in the back of the house lead out to a private deck, the perfect place to soak in the magic of Colorado’s landscape. The deck floats high in the trees, offering space to sit, sip, and savor the majestic beauty of Telluride. A barbecue grill can be found on one of the decks so you can grill while you enjoy the peaceful sounds of nature.

Packing for your summer vacation in Telluride can be fraught with uncertainty. We’ve all sat, slumped over our suitcase the night before we are meant to leave for a trip, suitcase bulging with things you probably don’t need (and likely won’t use!), wondering what on earth you have left out, and what you might need but haven’t thought of.

Here at Lodging In Telluride, we want to create a little cheat sheet for you. If you are planning a vacation to Telluride this summer for a wedding, 14’er mission or just for some fresh mountain air, we want to help you be prepared!

What You’ll Need To Pack & Wear In Telluride During The Summer Months

1. Sunscreen – Telluride does not get super hot during the summer, but we are at 8750 feet elevation, meaning the sun packs some punch at altitude! The number one thing to throw in your suitcase is sunscreen!!

2. Waterproof Jacket – summer storms come out of nowhere here in the San Juan mountains. If you are out hiking or biking, pack  waterproof jacket. Don’t be fooled by the blue skies and sunshine in the morning. At 3pm it can be a very different story!

3. Running/Hiking Shoes – even if you aren’t a big hiker, I can bet you will feel inspired to take some long walks while you are here in Telluride. Throw in your running shoes just in case.

4. Yoga Mat – nothing balances the body better than a good stretch at the end of a big day’s hike. We have 2 amazing yoga studios here in Telluride. If you have never tried yoga before, you might feel the urge to give it a go on your Telluride vacation.

5. Long Sleeve Shirt – the sun is always shining in Telluride, and it’s rays can be very intense. If you plan to be out in the sun for long periods, pack a light weight cotton shirt so you can protect your skin and stay outside without frying yourself.

6. Swimsuit – many condo complexes have a hot tub, and some have a pool (like the Viking Lodge & Lulu City). We also have the town pool for a refreshing dip. You might even feel the urge to jump in the river….if you’re brave! Don’t forget to throw your swimsuit in your suitcase.

7. Flip Flops – It’s nice to have a pair of shoes that you can slip on & off without a hassle. Flip flops are the perfect footwear option for lazy summer days hanging on Telluride’s Main Street.

8. Fleece/Sweater – Telluride, in my opinion, has the perfect summer climate. Most days hover in the mid 70’s. If it hits 80, that’s a hot day. At night, temperatures can drop off, especially if there has been an afternoon storm. Sometimes we randomly get snow in June and August. Don’t forget to pack a sweater, fleece or something warm you can throw on if it gets cold.

9. A wide brimmed hat – caps look cool, but the only thing to keep neck burn at bay is by wearing a full brimmed hat when out and about during the day.

10. Reusable water bottle – stainless steel is ideal. Help us keep our beautiful mountain town beautiful by limiting use of one time use plastic water bottles. Stainless steel water bottles also keep you healthy as they do not leach harmful chemicals into your water as plastic sometimes does.

If you are looking for accommodations in Telluride for your summer getaway, call Mindy & Georgie at Lodging In Telluride on 888-998-6471 and start planning your trip. Lodging In Telluride offers affordable, quality vacation rental condos in Telluride town, at the Viking Lodge and Lulu City.
