Not Your Just Any Mountain Home
As you walk into this multi-level space for the first time you will discover a place in which the beauty of the natural landscape and Telluride’s local history is reflected. Heavy timber beams cross the corrugated tin panels that add a rustic charm to the vaulted ceilings, matched by the charm of the concrete and wood floors below. A spacious living room greets guests with all the comforts a mountain home needs including a roaring wood fireplace, cozy throws tossed against the back of a plush sectional, and a wall of floor-to-ceiling windows that perfectly frame the snow-covered terrain outside. A state-of-the-art television perched on a cabinet next to the fireplace provides entertainment when it is too dark to see outside and a bookshelf filled with books and games provides an unplugged type of entertainment families will rejoice over.
The expansive kitchen features dark stone countertops, custom cabinets, and high-end appliances, including a Viking gas range, that helps bring joy back to cooking. Enjoy breakfast in the adjacent “nook” featuring a supersized leather banquette built under another wall of windows and a separate table for two. Seating for 10 is available at the large dining room table and even if you don’t choose to eat at home during your Telluride escape, this table will still be the center of fun and laughter as games are played, stories are told, and memories are made.
The expansive primary bedroom offers an iron king bed, a private gas fireplace, and a television for late night streaming. This room’s serene vibes will have you a peace amongst white-washed paneled walls and the vaulted ceiling. The attached en suite bathroom stars a clawfoot tub perched below a generously sized window, two pedestal sinks, and a large walk-in shower – this room is designed to spoil. Every one of the six bedrooms, three of which are located on the lowest level, offers a peaceful escape and something special makes each one stand out; a second king bedroom with en suite bathroom on the main floor, a queen bed facing the views of the mountains on the top level, sliding barn doors in one of the lower level bedrooms, and a bunk room built to harbor all the enthusiasm of your youngest travelers as they share secrets and giggle until sleep takes over. Each of the bathrooms in Copper Hollow offer their own charms, including a rustic reclaimed wood paneled bathroom with a copper vessel sink.
A private office area offering shelves created from the trunks of trees, a live edged wood desk, and a printer that can be used by guests can be where virtual meetings are conducted and online schooling can take place. The lower level also offers a media room containing a soft and colorful rug, a leather sectional, and a super-sized television that will make viewers feel like they are sitting courtside at the big game! This home also offers true ski-in/ski-out access from the lower level. Through this entry featuring ample space for ski storage, you can grab your gear and head out the door and walk right onto Sundance run. The home is at the intersection of Teddy’s Way and Sundance giving double green and blue skiers easy access on and off the slopes. A fully equipped laundry room, and a bonus pantry with ski snacks and coffee also on the lower level finishes up the interior tour of Copper Hollow.
The outdoor areas offer additional seating with amazing views between the deck off the living room overlooking the ski run, and then a propane grill and the hot tub bubbling merrily alongside the pine trees surrounding the deck just off the kitchen. Sit and simmer in the cold air, watching the steam disappear into the sky, and feel your stresses melt away as your soul enjoys the mountain air it needs. This is definitely one of the best Telluride vacation rentals!

Modern and Bright
Not all mountain homes have to be filled with lodge pole furnishings and chandeliers built of deer antlers; some, like the one on Spruce Street, embrace modernity and provide a sleek appeal that offers comfort as well. Designed to be the perfect skier’s retreat, a large entryway serves as a mudroom as well, offering a bench on which you can sit and easily take off your boots and cabinets for storing skis and/or boots. (Extra room under the bench provides more room for storage.) As you walk into the open-concept space, the rooms open up before you, welcoming guests as they invite them to sit and stay awhile.
White walls stay bright and cheerful on the darkest and gloomiest days of the year, and the charcoal-colored overstuffed Chesterfield sofa that dominates the living room space is perfectly situated for watching the big-screen television hanging on the wall opposite. A modern fireplace with glass stones hangs on the wall near the television, helping guests stay warm after a day on the slopes and giving the room a cozy charm that warms the heart even as the snow continues to fall outside. The kitchen tucked away in the far corner of the room features modern appliances in stainless steel, gray stone countertops, and cabinets painted a rich and deep navy blue. Cook a complete meal or brew a cup of coffee and pop a couple of slices in the toaster and enjoy a quiet breakfast at the glass and wood dining table located just steps away. Conveniently placed under a Sputnik-style chandelier, this is where your Colorado adventures will be planned, meals will be consumed, and if traveling as a family, many dad jokes will be told!
Outside, a balcony dressed with Adirondack chairs looks out over the Telluride landscape, and although winter chats may be shortened due to the chill, it is still the perfect spot to sit, sip, and watch the sun set. (Summer visits will make this outdoor spot one of your favorite places to be!) The curving steps lead up the stairs to the bedroom and a quiet open loft space; a comfortable trundle day bed ensures that every night’s sleep will be the best! The bedroom features a queen bed topped with a crisp white duvet ready for you to rest after adventures.
This Spruce Street abode may only have one bathroom, but the design allows for convenience as well, offering a door that closes off the business portions of the room, letting guests get in and wash their hands, put on make-up, or otherwise prepare for the day without bothering other occupants. A laundry closet, adjacent to the kitchen, brings us to the end of our walkthrough on Spruce Street, but don’t worry; there is still more to enjoy when you choose Lodging in Telluride and this modern escape to house you during your unforgettable adventures in the San Juan Mountains!
Located Close to All the Action
Although the quiet of this luxury escape may make you feel as if you are located in your own private paradise, all you need to do is step outside and you will immediately feel a part of the action. The Gondola station and lifts up the mountain are just a few minutes away, restaurants and shops are right outside your door, and for those who are seeking a little quiet time or some unique rental equipment, the Telluride Library can be reached in just about a minute! There will be no need for cars during your stay in Telluride, as the Galloping Goose offers a free bus ride and everything you want to do can literally be found within walking distance of your Spruce Street getaway.

Your Future Is Bright
Every vacation is important in the overall scheme of things, as you relearn how to play, forget about the office, and take some much-needed rest, but that first vacation, the one that signifies the first day of a life of togetherness, needs something extra, and Viking Lodge 308 has that special something. Walk into a space where ceilings are high, windows are large, and life looks bright and wonderful and see how long it takes for you to fall in love—we are betting it won’t be long! Kick off your wet boots while sitting at the wooden bench placed in the entryway for exactly that purpose and start exploring the spaces that will be your home for the next however many days of your stay.
Simple and clean, the cozy living room is the perfect spot for late-night conversations, Tuesday afternoon naps, or simply watching the big game on the large television that hangs opposite the comfy blue sofa. Step out onto the wood balcony that overlooks the slopes you will spend your days on and marvel at the natural Colorado landscape; lush and verdant in the summer months, vibrant and colorful in the fall, and serenely stark and blanketed in snow during the winter months, it is a beautiful scene you will miss when you are gone. Sit out here with a glass of wine at sunset or a cup of coffee (remember the coffee bar!) in the early mornings and learn that not every moment needs to be filled with conversation to be powerful.
When hunger pangs strike, the kitchen can be the first place you turn, eliminating the need to eat out every meal while offering an efficient space that is cheerful and functional. Work together side by side, learning the meals that make each other happiest, and devour your masterpieces sitting by side at the breakfast bar facing the work space. Here is where you can play Monopoly or discover that her poker face is just as transparent as her feelings for you! Middle of the night hot chocolates taste even better when shared by the light over the stove, and that first cup of coffee each morning will work better when enjoyed in this spot.
At night, when you crawl into bed, feeling that incredible moment of lightness as your head hits the pillow, you can expect to sleep deep in rooms that are designed to be serene and tranquil, helping occupants recharge for their daily adventures in Telluride. And although we can’t promise that you will have no dreams while resting here, we can pretty much guarantee that the dreams you do have will all be happy ones!
Exploring the Neighborhood
As you first drove into the Viking Lodge condo in Telluride, you may have noticed the European style of the buildings that add an old school charm to the community, but you may not have noticed the river that runs behind the property. Take a walk one evening during your stay and explore the beauty of the neighborhood, and if you are visiting during the summer, wear a swimsuit under your clothes. Access to the building pool is included with your rental fees and it stays heated, so even as the night temperatures may fall, you will be warm and toasty as you do the backstroke in the pool! Also included in your rental fees is access to the hot tub, and if you haven’t spent a night staring up at the stars while the steam rises around you, well, there is no better time to fix that than right now! Even if your Colorado visit isn’t the first vacation you have shared with your favorite traveling partner, it is sure to be one you never forget as you soak in the bubbles that hit tired and sore muscles in all the right places.

“You really want me to ice climb?”
“C’mon Mom! I know you can do it!” cried 8-year old Izzy, tugging on her mother’s hand and directing her toward the leather couch in our reception area.
Gulping the thin air of Telluride’s 8,750 foot elevation, Jennifer pensively allowed herself to be guided to the couch, and began unlacing her snow boots, Izzy beaming with pride as her mother allowed herself to catch some of her daughter’s contagious energy.
“Well all right!” local mountain guide Dave Ahrens exclaimed, “We’re going ice climbing!”
The mountain town of Telluride, Colorado is world-renowned as a great destination for outdoor enthusiasts of all ages. When the snow starts falling in November, all thoughts turn toward skiing, and rightfully so – the Telluride Ski Resort is one of the better ski hills in our state and the laid back feel of downtown makes it an appealing place for families. With just under 200 inches of powder falling annually over the past five years and a wide assortment of terrain both an and outside the ski area, the reputation as world-class is hard to argue.
Less well known are Telluride’s abundance of other frozen treats, namely our local ice routes. Visitors looking to break up their ski week might consider tying into a climbing rope and scaling one of our numerous frozen waterfalls. Ice climbing has grown in popularity in recent years, with improvements and innovations in equipment making entry into the sport easier than ever.
If you are feeling adventurous, are curious about the sport or if you’d just like to blow the minds of your Facebook friends with some cool shots of you hanging onto an azure flow of ice, carve out a half day from your Telluride visit and join the local professionals at Mountain Trip for a morning of climbing ice.
We offer full-service, guided half and full day trips for climbers of all abilities, complete with hot cocoa for the kiddos! Rest assured that your family is in good hands with the only guide service in southwest Colorado Accredited by the American Mountain Guides Association and staffed by highly trained guides who regularly lead climbers up tough peaks like Denali and Mount Everest. If Telluride has been on your bucket list, come & see what all the fuss is about this winter! Call Lodging In Telluride on 888-998-6471 to start planning your Telluride ski vacation. We offer a selection of Telluride town accommodations at the Viking Lodge & Lulu City. Our vacation rental properties are high quality, affordable & fully stocked with all of the essentials for your stay, and the experience is delivered with a friendly smile.
Visiting Telluride during the summer months is truly magical. Many of our friends to the south – Arizona, Texas and New Mexico flock north to the Rockies for mild summer days, cool nights and fresh mountain air. Because our temperatures are generally very mild in the summer (our days average in the mid 70’s), there is not a huge need for swimming pools and air conditioning in Telluride. These amenities might be essential in some parts of the country, but finding these things can be a challenge in a Telluride. However, it sure is nice when you find a vacation rental condo that has a swimming pool, and there are some fantastic options if you know where to look. Anyone who has kids knows how much of a bonus a pool can be on a vacation!
Two of the condo complexes where we currently manage condos have swimming pools – the Viking Lodge & Lulu City. We offer one, two, three and four bedroom accommodations to our guests. The pools are heated in the summer and winter months, ensuring an optimal level of comfort and refreshment.

Below: This gorgeous Lulu City condo also offers guests a swimming pool and hot tub. This vacation rental condo will also have air-conditioning in the summer of 2014!
