In 2013, the Telluride WOW Festival kicked off it’s inaugural event from September 20-22. The success of last years event means that this year, the festival is back for it’s second year from September 18-21, 2014! Here is the scoop from the festivals organizer, Becca Tudor:
The goal of the WOW festival is to offer a platform for folks to interact and be motivated by today’s health and wellness top professionals to make a change for a healthier life. Our presenters are international fitness figures, coaches, adventure athletes, doctors as well as local professionals.
Classes and lectures as well as Q&A sessions ranging in topics from specific workout programs to nutrition, exercise psychology, yoga, pilates, “the spirit of adventure” and the importance of the outdoors.
WOW’s bigger picture is to identify and address the social issue of our nations’ depression and obesity problem; a pattern that is being passed down to our children.
And so we forge on, from Telluride to the rest of the world….

Fitness is an important part of life, no matter where you live or what you do. I know, I know, sometimes it’s not that easy – life gets so busy and often the dreaded work out takes a back seat. However, living in Telluride, a certain level of fitness is required to do most things. Being able to clamber up a mountain or swish down a double black at full speed can make a crucial difference to one’s friend count! Ever heard the saying “no friends on a powder day?”. Basically, in Telluride, you get left behind if your not quick on your feet (or your skis). Gosh, I’m making Telluride sounds terribly cut throat – we really are a nice, friendly bunch of mountain folk. My point is, being active is an important part of life here in the mountains of Colorado, and we have such an inspiring backdrop here that it really isn’t too much of a sweat (pardon my pun). Fitness is generally something is enjoyed around here, and it usually does not involve a gym.
This coming weekend, Telluride is excited to experience the very first Telluride Work-Out-Weekend Festival (commonly referred to as Telluride WOW). Pioneered by local fitness guru Becca Tudor, the Telluride WOW Festival gives participants the opportunity to dive into a range of activities and seminars that focus on the latest health, fitness, wellness, nutrition and medical trends. Activities include “adventure racing, boot camp, climbing, cross fit, cycling, Pilates, P90X, yoga, ZUMBA and more”, according to Tudor. The idea is that guests can leave their busy lives behind for a few days and find out what REALLY makes their work out buttons tick.
Whether you are a seasoned work out warrior, or just needing some inspiration to kick start your fitness program, the weekend is sure to offer something for everyone. Tudor sums up the events, “Living in the mountains we get to take advantage of all the area offers for activities and workouts. There’s no shortage of activities in Telluride. We want people to leave their stressful lives behind and come to Telluride for a weekend with like minded individuals as they enjoy workouts, workshops and lectures by leaders in the health and fitness industry. Not to mention enjoying some of the most amazing scenery found anywhere in the world.”
