Why you should spend the 4th of July in Telluride
The 4th of July celebrations in Telluride are truly unique – so special that this particular holiday weekend was one of the reasons I decided to make the box canyon my home. What I love so much about the 4th of July is that, despite everyone being so busy, everyone in town makes such a huge effort to get dressed up, build floats for the parade & literally hit the “pause” button for one day to enjoy the festivities, spend time with family & friends, and take some time to remember how incredible this tiny mountain community really is.
Here is a snapshot of some of the highlights of the 4th of July celebrations in Telluride:
- the day starts early with the Rundola, a fundraiser run from the bottom of the gondola to the top of the gondola.
- the Main St July 4 parade kicks off at 11am & is really the centre point of the holiday celebrations
- the Telluride Fire Department hosts the annual picnic in Town Park from 1pm onwards
- the evening fireworks display is a spectacularly explosive end to the festivities and can be enjoyed from numerous vantage points around town. The most popular spot is watching the action from Telluride Town Park.
