Telluride is a former silver mining town located in the Western San Juan Mountains and lies on the San Miguel River. It lies amongst steep forested mountains and cliffs, and its remote location allows for visitors to experience nature usually reserved for uncharted territory. Elk and mule deer are common sightings. Telluride is also home to black bears, mountain lions and coyotes. Smaller animals you might see are beavers and porcupines. You may also see eagles flying overhead!
