Delivery Services

The easiest option, and increasingly the one most of our guests choose. Gear comes to your rental, gets fitted in your living room, and if something is wrong they come back and fix it.

Ski Butlers Telluride

Phone: (970) 728-2071
Hours: Daily, 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Lodging In Telluride guests save 10 percent when booking through the link above.

They deliver skis and snowboards to your rental, fit you in your room, and bring extra boots to make sure the fit is right. If anything goes wrong mid-week, they come to you rather than making you haul gear back to a shop.

Those 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. hours are the quiet advantage. When a binding needs adjusting at 6:00 p.m. and every shop in town has closed, Ski Butlers is still answering the phone. At the end of your stay, drop everything in the bin and go.

Black Tie Ski Rentals

Address: 560 Mountain Village Blvd, Unit 101, Telluride, CO 81435
Phone: (970) 369-7799
Hours: Daily, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Book: blacktieskis.com/telluride

Kids rent free with a paid five-day adult rental, which makes this the value pick for families.

Delivery to your rental plus slopeside service, and they will keep boots on dryers overnight and have your skis waiting at the ski valet each morning. They also carry extras you might have forgotten: goggles, socks, ski jackets, and more.

Consistently one of the highest-rated rental operations in Telluride, and particularly good at handling groups without the chaos of a shop queue.

Outfitting locals and visitors for nearly 50 years. Ski and snowboard gear, clothing, accessories, and local advice, with a boot fit guarantee.

The Camel's Garden location sits right next to the gondola, which makes it the most convenient in-town pickup if you are heading straight up the mountain.

Phone: (970) 718-0130

Formerly known as The Alpineer. A genuine one-stop shop: if you own no ski gear at all, they have outerwear, base layers, sweaters, pants, jackets, socks, helmets, and goggles alongside ski, pole, and helmet rentals.

Packages for every skill level, with staff who get consistently strong reviews for patience with complete beginners and for boot fitting.

Christy Sports, Oak Street

Address: 236 S Oak St, Telluride, CO 81435
Phone: (970) 728-4581
Hours: Daily, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

A second in-town location close to the gondola, with a large rental fleet and a full service shop for tuning and repairs.

Jagged Edge Mountain Gear

Address: 223 E Colorado Ave, Telluride, CO 81435
Phone: (970) 728-9307
Hours: Daily, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The specialist shop, and a favorite among people who take their gear seriously. Backcountry, mountaineering, ice climbing, and nordic equipment, with staff who genuinely know the terrain.

They rent cross-country skis, which most of the alpine shops do not, making this the place to go if you want to tour the valley floor rather than ride lifts. Also strong for repairs when something breaks mid-trip, and there is a substantial sale section upstairs.

Mountain Village

Bootdoctors Telluride

Address: 650 Mountain Village Blvd, Telluride, CO 81435
Phone: (970) 728-8954
Hours: Daily, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Website: bootdoctors.com

If your feet have ever hurt in ski boots, start here. The name is the business: these are boot fitting specialists, and guests routinely describe skiing better and more comfortably after a session with them than they have in decades.

Full ski and snowboard rentals too, plus a well-regarded repair shop for bindings and tuning. They have a reputation for fairness on billing, only charging for days actually used.

Telluride Sports, Franz Klammer Lodge

Address: 567 Mountain Village Blvd, Telluride, CO 81435
Phone: (970) 728-0364
Hours: Daily, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The Mountain Village core location, with rentals, boot fitting, and a strong apparel selection. Convenient if you are staying up top and want to walk to your gear.

Telluride Sports, The Peaks Resort

Address: 136 Country Club Dr, Telluride, CO 81435
Phone: (970) 239-0339
Hours: Daily, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Inside The Peaks Resort, opening at 8:00 a.m., which is the earliest shop opening in Mountain Village. Handy for a first-chair morning if you are staying nearby.

How to Choose

  • Traveling with kids or a group? Go with delivery. Ski Butlers or Black Tie. Fitting five people in a shop on a Saturday morning is nobody's idea of a holiday, and Black Tie's kids-free-with-five-day-adult deal is worth real money.
  • Feet that give you trouble? Bootdoctors, then Telluride Sports for the boot fit guarantee. Boot fit is the single biggest factor in whether you enjoy a ski week, far more than the skis.
  • First-time skier with no gear at all? Christy Sports on Main Street. They will outfit you head to toe in one stop, including clothing.
  • Nordic skiing, touring, or backcountry? Jagged Edge. They are the only shop here renting cross-country gear.
  • Want to be first on the lift? Telluride Sports at The Peaks opens at 8:00 a.m., or use a delivery service and skip the shop entirely.

Booking Tips

  • Reserve online in advance. Online rates beat walk-up rates, and holiday weeks sell out of the better gear.
  • Be honest about your ability. Shops fit gear to skill level, and overstating it gets you skis you will fight all week.
  • Consider a demo upgrade if you ski regularly. The difference between basic rental skis and demo gear is substantial and usually costs less than you would expect.
  • Ask about swaps. Most shops will exchange skis mid-trip at no charge if conditions change or something is not working. Powder day? Ask for something wider.
  • Helmets are usually included or available cheaply. Wear one.
  • Check what your lodging offers. Some properties have ski lockers or valet service, which changes where it makes sense to pick up gear.

Where to Stay

Where you sleep affects which rental option makes sense. Delivery works anywhere, but if you are picking up gear yourself, being close to a shop or the gondola helps.
