Telluride Balloon Festival
June 5 - June 7, 2026 You won’t find many more beautiful places in the world than Telluride in early June. Spring is in full swing, summer is just around the corner – and the air is starting to warm up along with the blooming of flowers against the lush green forests. Because of that great natural backdrop, the annual Telluride Balloon Festival is truly a sight to behold. Gorgeous, colorful hot-air balloons take to the skies for spectators to enjoy safely from the streets of the town below. As the self-proclaimed ‘festival capital of the world’, Telluride is no stranger to a gather of people for a common interest or activity. While the Balloon Festival is one of the smaller festivals throughout the year in Telluride, CO, it offers a unique charm and beauty that sets it apart from the rest. For a peaceful weekend taking in the scenery of southwest Colorado, you will not do better than the Telluride Balloon Festival. This festival is always held on the first weekend of June, and it gets started early both days. Around a dozen balloons will launch right around 7 a.m., assuming the weather cooperates. All you need to do is take a quick step outside of your lodging and you should have a great view of the balloons from anywhere in Telluride. Wind is the enemy of a safe hot-air balloon ride, so gusty conditions can keep the festival grounded until the weather clears. While it is great fun to view the balloons from the ground, some spectators may wish to take a more active role. If you are interested in getting a free ride up in one of the balloons alongside and experienced pilot, you might be able to get that opportunity. In order to volunteer to help with the balloon festival, and therefore have a chance to ride up in one, you need to show up at Town Park around 6 a.m. on one of the days of the festival. You will be assigned to help with a specific balloon, and might even be able to ride up in one for an unparalleled view of the city below. The final night of the festival is reserved for a very exciting display of color and light. Many of the balloons that have been soaring above town will be tethered and on display right on Colorado Avenue. As the sun goes down, the balloons are inflated and the glow from their engines light up the night sky. This display is truly something to behold, and should really be seen up close and personal. For great lodging that will keep you close to the action and only steps from the Balloon Festival itself, look no further than Lodging in Telluride. Our properties are luxurious from start to finish, and will make for a great home away from home while you are in town experiencing the festival. Telluride is a one of a kind place that will keep you busy from sun up to sunset. Book one of our great properties today and make sure you have a spot from which to enjoy the annual Balloon Festival. For more info, you can visit their website: http://www.tellurideballoonfestival.com/ If you plan on attending this event and are in need of a vacation rental home or condo search our available properties. Telluride Bluegrass Festival
June 18 - June 21, 2026 A festival with over 50 years of rich history, the Telluride Bluegrass Festival occurs late in June each year and is the unofficial kick-off of the summer season. This four day event combines some of the greatest talents in bluegrass music along with some up and coming talent that you will hear first in Telluride. Telluride is the perfect setting for bluegrass music, with the natural surroundings and peaceful atmosphere setting the state for these great performers. One of the things that makes the Telluride Bluegrass Festival such a can’t miss event is the way the performers feel about it. Since it is one of the highlights of their schedule, the performers often turn in sessions that are the best they will ever play. The setting and the crowd have been known to come together and inspire music like you have never heard before. Even if you are not a dedicated bluegrass fan, you will certainly recognize some of the great names that are taking the stage. This festival of great music and camaraderie runs from 10 in the morning until around midnight each day. Over that time, you will be able to enjoy music on multiple stages, sample some great food, and simply soak up the wonderful setting that is Telluride. Whether you are a seasoned bluegrass listener or are fairly new to the genre, you will be instantly captured by the magic that occurs on these stages each June. Bluegrass Festival in Green Telluride Another one of the great things about the Telluride Bluegrass festival is the history of artists being willing to take risks on the stage and create music that they have maybe never even tried before. Since the crowd is so knowledgeable and passionate about bluegrass music, the artists don’t feel as though they are performing for a crowd so much as they are performing for friends. When two or more of the legendary names in bluegrass music get together for a session on the stage, there is literally no telling what could happen next. Of course, if you are going to visit for the Bluegrass Festival, you will need somewhere to stay. Since there is no parking at the festival and you either need to walk or take transit, the ideal lodging is close to the festival grounds where you can just slip on your shoes and stroll over for great music. We have many properties available right within the town that are a perfect spot to call home during the festival. Our accommodations are first rate all the way around, and a great way to relax and rest up for another day out in the Colorado sun soaking up the best bluegrass music in the world. For more info, you can visit their website: http://www.bluegrass.com/telluride/ If you plan on attending this event and are in need of a vacation rental home or condo search our available properties. When you return home after this amazing event, you will have more knowledge about the practice of yoga than ever before, and you will feel relaxed and rejuvenated after spending time around these motivational people. Along with the focus on yoga is a dedication to doing something good for our environment. Like so many of the festivals that take place in Telluride, the Yoga Festival is centered on also delivering a message of sustainability and green living along with the yoga component. As a demonstration of that dedication, 25% of the proceeds from the Yoga Festival in Telluride, CO will be donated to a local charity that is focused on protecting the earth. Not only will your attendance teach you more about yoga and allow you to practice with some amazing teachers, but you will be contributing to a worthy cause as well. Parade The Telluride 4th of July Parade begins at 11 a.m. on historic Main Street and is organized by the Telluride 4th of July Parade Committee. The sidewalks are packed as locals and visitors cheer for goofy costumes, homemade floats, music, and an airplane fly-over provided by volunteers from the Colorado National Guard. Fireworks As the sun sets over the San Juan Mountains, the town collectively holds its breath for the unbelievable fireworks show. Enjoy the show from a blanket in the park, while enjoying a cocktail along Main Street, or from the top of the Gondola! Note that the fireworks are dependent upon the weather conditions. Telluride Mushroom Festival
August 12 - August 16, 2026 The mushroom is a fungus that usually spends it time in the background, as an addition to a salad or maybe a topping on a burger. However, for one weekend in Telluride each August, Mushroom Fest takes over and the mushrooms jumps to center stage. From experts in the field of mushrooms, to people who just love to eat and admire these unusual plants, the Telluride Mushroom festival draws the most unique crowd of any of Telluride’s many festivals throughout the year. Mushrooms are complex and there is much to learn about them in order to become an expert in the field. While many mushrooms are delicious and safe to eat, others are highly poisonous to humans. One of the biggest draws of Mushroom Fest are the lectures given by experts in the mushroom field. These professionals who come from all kinds of scientific backgrounds enjoy coming to the Mushroom Festival to soak in the beauty of Telluride and share their love of this fungus. Of course, eating mushrooms is one of the favorite pastimes of many Shroomfest attendees. For that group, there are great cooking classes and demonstrations that take place all weekend long. The cooking demonstrations not only highlight many different uses for mushrooms in your at-home cuisine, but will also introduce you to other kinds of mushrooms that you may not be familiar with. Having an in depth knowledge of different mushroom species is crucial if you are going to be able to integrate mushrooms into your diet more than ever before. Mushroom Festival Another attraction of the Mushroom Festival that combines the passion from ‘shrooms with the natural beauty of Telluride are the nature walks. These guided short hikes will help you to learn how to find and pick wild mushrooms, and how to identify which ones are safe and which may be poisonous. Visitors to the Mushroom Festival love these hikes because they allow for close and personal interaction with some of the experts in the mushroom field, and are a treat under the sunshine of Telluride. If you are lucky enough to able to attend the Mushroom Festival in Telluride, you will be in for an experience that is truly one of a kind.
