If skiing isn’t your style but you get a good laugh at those who try and fail, the Telluride Comedy Festival is right up your alley. This annual event features an all-star lineup and four full nights of fun. This year’s event includes performances from legends like Jason Mantzoukas of The League and Matt Braunger of MADtv—to name a few. Nothing is off limits at the Comedy Festival, with comedy in the form of stand-up, improv, sketches, and much more. Telluride Gay Ski Week

Price: Festival is free to attend; some events require a separate fee

2019 marks the 16th year for Telluride Gay Ski Week and this year promises to be bigger and better than ever! The action-packed event features a full week of events, and you don’t have to be a ski pro to participate. Activities include live snow sports shows, ice skating, snowboarding, dog sledding, dancing, dinners, live music, karaoke, fashion shows, and so much more. So much more than just another film fest, MountainFilm brings ~85 of the top independent films from around the world together for one spectacular artistic event. The entire weekend is filled with film screenings and critiques, guest presentations from filmmakers, symposiums on film creation and theory, musical performances, and networking events and parties to bring the film community together in celebration. What started as a niche mountain film festival has evolved into the nation’s leading independent documentary film festival, and the event is an absolute must for cinephiles. Telluride Balloon Festival

Date: June 7 – June 9, 2019

We’d be remiss if we didn’t mention what is inarguably the most beautiful event of the year—the annual Telluride Balloon Festival. This stunning event takes place at the beginning of summer when the mountain is covered in lush greenery and the lakes are glistening in the bright sun. Each year, dozens of handcrafted hot air balloons launch from Town Park on the east end of Telluride and glide down the valley, a truly spectacular sight. Saturday evening is “Glow” night, the highlight of the event, where owners fire up their balloons along Main Street and the entire downtown Telluride area is glowing with color. The Telluride Bluegrass Festival always falls on the week of the Summer Solstice, allowing ample time to absorb the sights and sounds of our charming mountain town. This four-day event offers a variety of rich musical experiences for guests of all ages. The main musical events will take place on the Telluride Town Park Main Stage; other events include intimate master workshops, songwriting contests and showcases, late-night concerts at local venues around town, and much more. Food and wine enthusiasts, rejoice! This annual Telluride event has been a tradition for over 35 years and shows no sign of slowing down any time soon. Relax, reconnect, and rejuvenate at the Telluride Yoga Festival. Designed for yogis of all levels, the festival fosters learning, mentorship, and spiritual revitalization. Good beer, great views, and every better music—that’s just what you can expect at the annual Blues & Brews Festival. Most performances over the three-day weekend take place on the Telluride Town Park Main Stage, with select intimate performances taking place at smaller venues around town. Every Labor Day weekend, film enthusiasts flood Telluride for four days of cinema-related events including screenings, panels and special events. A couple of things differentiate the Telluride Film Festival from the rest of the festival circuit including its low key vibe and a program which isn’t revealed until festival-goers arrive in town. Inspired by the famous Burning Man Festival, which takes place at the end of the summer in the Nevada desert, Telluride’s take focuses on an interactive guest experience centered around fire artistry. As night falls, the town of Telluride comes to life with experiential fire sculptures and performances. The festival is comprised of several individual events, like glass blowing workshops, fire dances and juggling demonstrations, cooking classes, and more, which are all priced separate; some events are free to attend while some require a fee.
