Here is a sentence nobody expects to read about a box canyon at 8,750 feet: yes, we have pools.
Telluride summers average in the mid 70s. Nights get genuinely cool. Air conditioning is almost never necessary, which is exactly why so few properties here bothered building pools in the first place. If you are coming up from Phoenix, Dallas, or Albuquerque, the weather alone is the amenity.
But then you have kids. And kids do not care about your mild alpine microclimate. Kids care about whether there is a pool. Anyone who has tried to explain "crisp mountain air" to a seven year old at 4:00 p.m. understands the assignment.
So here is exactly where to find a Telluride vacation rental with pool access, what is open when, and which one fits your group.
Telluride Rentals with Pool Access: The Short Version
We currently manage 18 properties with access to a heated outdoor pool, concentrated across three complexes, all of them in the town of Telluride rather than up in Mountain Village. Every one of them also has hot tub access, which matters more than you think. More on that below.
- Viking Lodge for the widest selection, the best value, and the biggest group option
- Etta Place 112 for ski-in ski-out access with a pool attached
- Ice House 317 for space, a garage, and a two block walk to the gondola

Viking Lodge: Telluride's Pool Headquarters
If you want a pool in Telluride, odds are very good you are staying at the Viking Lodge. It is the single largest concentration of pool-access rentals in town, and the location is quietly one of the best in Telluride: right on the San Miguel River, steps from the River Trail, a short walk to Lift 7 and the gondola, and an easy stroll into the historic downtown.
The complex has a heated outdoor pool, a hot tub, and outdoor seating areas surrounded by mountain and river views. It also delivers something increasingly rare in Telluride, which is a genuinely affordable nightly rate in a walkable location.
Best Viking Lodge Condos for Couples and Small Families
Most of the Viking inventory is one bedroom, sleeping three to five, and each unit has its own personality. A few standouts:
- Viking Lodge 100AB is the outlier and the crown jewel: 4 bedrooms, 3 baths, sleeps 12, with a 900 square foot outdoor area facing the river and the River Trail. Ground floor, contemporary mountain feel, and the privacy of a house with the amenities of a complex. If you have a big group and you want a pool, start and probably finish here.
- Viking Lodge 310 is a top floor corner unit with a private balcony over the San Miguel River. Sleeps 4. The corner position means more light and better views than anything else in the building.
- Viking Lodge 206 brings a sleek Scandinavian-inspired design, a king bed plus bunks, and a spot close to Lift 7. Sleeps 4, best for two adults plus kids.
- Viking Lodge 105 is beautifully designed, sleeps 4 with a sleeper sofa, and works equally well for a couple or a small family.
- Viking Lodge 304 leans rustic and cozy, with a queen in the main bedroom and hallway bunks that kids love. Sleeps 5, seconds from the river trail.
- Viking Lodge 313 sits on the top floor with mountain views and the sound of the river outside the window. Sleeps 5. You can watch skiers coming down the slopes from bed.
- Viking Lodge 116 is a ground floor unit right on the River Trail with recent wood floor, paint, kitchen, and bath upgrades. Sleeps 3. Easiest access if stairs are a consideration.
Also available with pool access: Viking Lodge 312, Viking Lodge 315, and Viking Lodge 213. See the full list on our Viking Lodge page.
Etta Place 112: Ski-In Ski-Out with a Pool
This is the combination almost nobody in Telluride can offer.
Etta Place 112 is a slope-side penthouse on the quiet west end of town: 3 bedrooms plus a lofted bunk area, 2.5 baths, sleeps 8. It sits just steps from Lift 7, which makes it true ski-in ski-out, and it is moments from the River Trail for summer hiking and biking.
Ski to the door in February. Swim in July. Walk to Colorado Avenue year round. If your group wants one property that works in every season without compromise, this is the answer.
Ice House 317: Space, Garage Parking, and the Gondola
Ice House 317 is the practical pick, and we mean that as a compliment. 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, sleeps 6, in the core of town with a wraparound terrace, pool and hot tub access, and the thing every Telluride visitor eventually wishes they had booked: garage parking.
You are two blocks from the gondola, around the corner from the Bear Creek trailhead and the River Trail, and a five to ten minute walk from restaurants and shops. In a town where street parking in winter is a competitive sport, that garage is worth real money.
Pool or Hot Tub? Know What Is Open When
This is the part most listings gloss over, so let us be direct about it.
The outdoor pools operate seasonally. Heating an outdoor pool through a San Juan Mountains winter is a different proposition than heating one in Scottsdale. Pool availability varies by complex and by season, so if swimming is a must-have for your specific dates, call us at 888-998-6471 and we will confirm before you book. We would much rather have that conversation now than have you arrive in January expecting laps.
The hot tubs, however, run year round. And here is the honest take: in Telluride, the hot tub is the amenity that actually earns its keep. Sitting in 104 degree water while snow falls on your head, with the San Juans lit up around you, beats a swimming pool by a considerable margin. Every pool property on this list has hot tub access too.

Why a Pool Property Is a Smart Booking in Telluride
Beyond the obvious kid math, there are a few reasons these particular properties punch above their weight:
- Altitude recovery. Day one at 8,750 feet flattens most visitors. An easy afternoon by the pool instead of another hike is genuinely good acclimatization strategy.
- Festival season sanity. Telluride's summer festival calendar is relentless. Having somewhere to decompress between sets, without leaving your complex, is underrated.
- The location is not a compromise. All three of these complexes sit in the town of Telluride, walkable to Colorado Avenue and the gondola. You are not trading location for amenities.
- Value. Viking Lodge in particular delivers some of the most reasonable nightly rates in a walkable Telluride location, pool included.
Telluride Pool Rentals FAQ

Some do, but not many. Telluride's mild summers meant most properties were built without them. We currently manage 18 rentals with heated outdoor pool access, concentrated at the Viking Lodge, Etta Place, and Ice House complexes.
Are the pools heated?
The outdoor pools are heated during their operating season. Because they are outdoors at high elevation, availability is seasonal and varies by complex. Call us to confirm for your exact dates.
Do I need air conditioning in Telluride?
Almost never. Summer days average in the mid 70s and nights cool off substantially. Open a window. That is the system.
Which Telluride pool rental is best for a large group?
Viking Lodge 100AB sleeps 12 across 4 bedrooms with a 900 square foot outdoor area. Etta Place 112 sleeps 8 and adds true ski-in ski-out access at Lift 7.
Can I get a pool and ski-in ski-out in Telluride?
Etta Place 112 is the one. Steps from Lift 7 with pool and hot tub access, sleeping 8. It is a rare combination in this town and it books early.
Are these properties in town or in Mountain Village?
All in the town of Telluride, which means you can walk to Colorado Avenue, the gondola, and the River Trail. Browse more downtown Telluride rentals or compare with our Mountain Village properties.
